Answering the Call

 For Sherill and Claudia Calloway answering the call into the full time mission field was a process, a journey, a place to where God brought them, to say "Yes Lord, we will go".

At their age and stage in life, most people would have been preparing for retirement. Together they had built their dream home on 11 acres of farmland and had every “critter” Claudia could think of to raise. As God was working and preparing their hearts they were working hard at honing their skills. Sherill had spent his whole life fixing, making and building things. Claudia had spent hers serving, cooking and taking care of everybody else. Together, they had fought their way through Claudia’s two bouts with cancer and Sherill's six month recovery from a very serious broken leg. Both would be quick to say they would have never made it through any of that without their Lord and Savior. In each circumstance, He strengthened their faith, built their courage and spoke His plan clearly to both of their hearts.

In 2006 they went for short term work with the NC Baptist Men Disaster Relief. When they returned home they shared with the church that God had called them to full time ministry. They sold all that they had, including their farm, and bought an RV. They moved the rest of their stuff, three cats and one dog into that RV and took off to Katrina Ravaged Mississippi the very next spring.

They have been working down in Mississippi ever since. They've brought in volunteers from all over the US to work on the churches, homes and lives that had been torn apart by the storm that had come through three years before. There is still work to be done and Sherill and Claudia will stay until theirs is done. God has been faithful and provided their every need thus far and they have no doubt that He will continue to bless as they continue to work.

Dear Folks;
We have been blessed to have entered into a partnership with North Mission Builders. Claudia and Sherrill have shown the hearts of servants for God. They have blessed many on the coast with their ministry not only to repair homes, but also to repair lives and hearts by caring. "Every now and then you have the privilege of seeing a true "God-thing" and every now and then you get to be a part of that "God-thing". That is the way i feel about North Mission Builders.  Consider selling everything you have, using that money to buy all that you can to equip you for the work the Lord has impressed upon your heart, and then moving to an area where you are strangers.  You have just considered in part what the Lord has done with Sherrill and Claudia in the past year. In the past few months, I have seen the Lord work miracles through North Mission Builders. Not only have they been a huge blessing to our church, our church family, our church building, but now they are moving into the community to help with the rebuilding there.  They need teams to come and help.  They need materials and financial support.  They need you!

In great attitude to God,

Dean Smith,
Pastor, Freedom Christian Fellowship

Brad Lynch

"I used to say that Sherrill and Claudia left all that they knew and loved to follow God's call in their lives. However, that is not the case. They were simply following their first love, Jesus Christ. I believe the job of the church is to train missionaries. We must seek to develop a group of people who will see their world as a mission field and follow God in His plan to reach that world with the gospel. Sherrill and Claudia embody this perfectly. I have never met a more humble, geniune, and gracious couple. It is my absolute honor to be their brother in Christ, pastor, and friend. If you only have one opportunity this year to involve your church in a service project, I highly recommend North Mission Builders. It will be an opportunity for you to impact the life of another, while God changes your life in the process."
